TOHUM is a coffee shop transformation project that reimagines a traditional Turkish restaurant into a contemporary, modern–industrial space. The goal was to create a new identity for the place — one that feels fresh, urban, and welcoming — while working within a limited budget.
THE CHALLENGE
The main challenge of this project was to completely change the atmosphere of the existing space without heavy demolition or costly finishes.
The client requested a modern-industrial vibe that could reflect the energy of a coffee shop, while remaining practical, durable, and economically sustainable

To meet both aesthetic and budget constraints, KREA proposed a design approach rooted in industrial honesty and material efficiency.
Instead of expensive finishes, we focused on construction-grade and industrial materials, using them intentionally as design elements:
Stainless steel sheets commonly used in construction
Reused iron elements
Polycarbonate panels to filter light while maintaining privacy
Concrete resin flooring applied over the existing pavement, avoiding demolition
This strategy reduced costs, minimized waste, and reinforced the industrial identity of the space
A traditional interior with heavy finishes and a closed atmosphere, reflecting the previous use as a Turkish restaurant.
A lighter, more open entrance defined by industrial materials and filtered light, setting a modern coffee shop identity from the very first step.
Dark tones and conventional finishes that absorbed light and weighed down the space.
A contemporary industrial atmosphere created through polycarbonate panels, reused metal, and concrete resin flooring — achieving durability, cost efficiency, and a modern aesthetic without demolition.
