Bostanci Project
A 25 m² living room reimagined as a warm, light-filled and multifunctional space. The proposal explores how thoughtful space planning, vertical surfaces, natural light and carefully selected elements can create a greater sense of comfort and openness without changing the footprint of the room.
Created for a client approaching retirement who wanted to make the most of a compact space while keeping some of her existing pieces, including a TV unit and a taupe Diamond Chair.
Bostanci Living-room transformation how comes?
The challenge was to create both a comfortable relaxation area and a dining space within a limited footprint. The design responds by making the most of the vertical surfaces, introducing warm materials and natural elements, and improving the flow of natural light throughout the room.
BEFORE & AFTER SECTION
The existing TV unit and taupe Diamond Chair were kept as key elements of the new design.
Rather than replacing them, the proposal integrates both pieces into a new composition, creating a more cohesive and contemporary living environment while respecting the client's existing choices.
MAKING EVERY SQUARE METRE COUNT
Despite the limited 25 m² footprint, the new layout creates both a comfortable relaxation area and a compact dining space.
Vertical surfaces are used to add shelving and functionality, while a built-in bench provides additional seating without taking up valuable floor space. A neutral palette of whites and soft tones was chosen to enhance the feeling of openness and reflect natural light throughout the room.
The existing layout shows a compact entrance leading into the living area, with the kitchen directly adjacent to the room. A solid door separates the narrow entrance from the living space, limiting the flow of natural light into the hallway.
The proposal replaces the existing door with a fluted glass partition, maintaining the separation between the spaces while allowing natural light to pass through. This creates a brighter and more visually connected entrance without changing the overall layout of the apartment.
